Let’s face it – winter is rough on down clothing, especially when you’re somewhere it snows regularly. Dirty cars (and dogs!) mean dirty coats (for me, at least).
I had several pieces of down gear that needed washing, so I was excited to get a chance to test out the Granger’s Down Care Kit. The kit comes with a 10 oz bottle of Down 2 in 1 (Wash & Repel) and three dryer balls. It’s pretty simple to use. Wash in the machine with the recommended amount of Down 2 in 1, then throw your gear the dryer with the dryer balls.
I have a top loading machine, so I used 4 caps per jacket (2 caps per jacket with a front loader). I washed 1 down coat, 1 synthetic puffy coat, 1 down vest and 2 synthetic puffy vests. I ended up using the whole bottle. The instructions say to wash on a 30C (86F) cycle with a slow spin. I chose the delicate cycle on my machine. Then I dried everything on low heat with the dryer balls.
The results were great! Everything came out so clean. I didn’t have any issues with the down clumping. My down gear is now clean and ready for more adventures!
