It’s that time of year again. The holidays. If you’re still searching for gifts for your favorite photographer, here’s a list of some accessories that all photographers can use.
Lowepro photoSport Bp300 – $158.25
Ok, so this is technically a little over $150, but it’s such a great bag for hiking and traveling. It’s got a padded side access compartment for your SLR, hip belt pockets, a spot for you water bladder, a built in rain cover and multiple attachment points. The top loading section has room for snacks, an extra layer or another lens in a padded case. I carry my tripod in the back exterior pocket.
MeFoto Tripod – $142.92
The Backpacker version comes in at 2.6 pounds. The legs fold up for compact storage. It has a dual action ball head and is Arca-Swiss compliant. It comes with a carrying case and a Arca-Swiss plate. It supports 8.8 pounds, so check your camera and lens weight carefully. It was perfect for my Nikon D5100, but a little on the small side for my Nikon D810. There’s a recessed weight hook in the center, which you can use to add extra stability.
peak Designs Capture Clip – $59.95
This genius device clips onto a belt or shoulder strap and allows you to securely mount your camera. I use it all the time. It lives on my LowePro PhotoSport pack, but makes the transition to other bags/packs as needed. You can read my full review on the Peak Designs Capture Clip here.
Matador Lens Base Layer – $39.99
This super lightweight (42 grams) lens bag is perfect for backpacking trips. The tech shell and inner liner protect lenses from bumps, dust and weather. I’ve never clipped it onto a belt or harness, but carry it inside my pack.

Camera rain Cover – $12.99
Lightweight and waterproof, a rain cover is a must for shooting in the elements – rain, snow, salt-spray, wind-blown sand – you name it. This one features a large transparent “window” on the back, so you can see your LCD screen and back controls. It’s designed for medium to large cameras with standard lenses.

Microfiber Cleaning Cloths – $8.99/3 Pack
I’m a firm believer that you can never have too many cleaning cloths. These are 6×7 inches and perfect for removing dust, smudges and fingerprints from lenses. You can also use them to clean sunglasses, binoculars, telescopes and phone screens. I always carry a few, so I have a clean dry backup on hand.
Lenspen Cleaning Kit – $11.99
These handy LensPens are another great cleaning tool. The have a retractable brush on one end, and a cleaning tip on the other. Use the brush to remove dust and dirt. Then use the cleaning tip to remove smudges. It won’t work on wet surfaces, so I still carry lens cloths.
visible Dust Zee pro Sensor Cleaner – $31.45
Bulb blowers are a must for sensor cleaning. Photographers have always battled dust. This blower is easy to use. It sits upright and features a front and rear filter to prevent it from blowing more dust into your camera.
S
anDisk Extreme Memory Card – $21.99
Memory cards are another thing photographers can’t have enough of. While you can get cards with more memory, I prefer 32 gb. After having an issue with a larger card – and losing all the RAW files on it – I prefer to shoot with multiple smaller cards.

pagnshi Memory Card Case – $8.99
This compact, lightweight case will hold CF, SD and microSD cards. It fits in the palm of your hand. Maybe get them two, one for full or used cards and another for empty cards. The soft silicon molded liner allows you to pop them securely into place. No more hunting for memory cards in your camera bag.
